Carl Rice on a pedestrian bridge with the Chicago skyline in the background

About

I am Carl Rice, a dual Master of Social Work (MSW) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) candidate at Aurora University, based in Chicago, Illinois.

My background spans crisis support, behavioral health, and advocacy. That work has shaped how I approach everything else: with a belief that people deserve services that are both compassionate and well run, and that good leadership in human services requires understanding both.

Before turning to social work, I worked as a technology support specialist for a school district, where I took the initiative to learn and standardize network application deployment across district buildings. That experience taught me how thoughtful systems quietly make everyone’s work easier — a lesson I carry into organizational leadership today.

I am drawn to work at the intersection of human services and organizational leadership: roles where clinical insight, operational thinking, and advocacy meet. Longer term, I plan to continue into doctoral study and, eventually, university teaching.

I was born and raised in Woodstock, Illinois, and now call Chicago home.
